A Case Study on KM at Northrup Grumman

Organizations embarking on, or well into their knowledge management initiatives as Northrop Grumman is, all face a number of significant challenges in determining the cultural readiness for knowledge management improvements.

As the following case study briefly explains, Northrop Grumman's knowledge management initiatives benefited from an analysis by Delphi Group. Delphi Group's KM2 methodology, comprised of surveys, interviews and targeted analysis, uncovered critical issues regarding Northrop's current knowledge practices and opportunities, and identified the best approaches to fortifying the good and addressing the challenges.

Northrop realized the biggest benefit from working with Delphi Group was the fast start we gave their KM project. The results of the knowledge audit provided clear, well-informed direction in a fraction of the time it would have otherwise taken. Northrop was also able to proceed with the certainty that they were doing the right thing, and not just taking instinctive or blind attempts at KM.
